Hello.

Welcome to our website and thank you for visiting. Tanner Architecture is an architecture practice based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent that has a particular love for designing the places where people live.

Homes are the most ubiquitous of building types; there are currently over 25 million of them in the UK. However, many architects continue to consider them the most difficult type of building to design. The unique challenge they possess is that homes are the most personal of buildings. Whilst providing refuge, shelter and privacy they should also satisfy our need for comfort, informality, indulgence, intimacy and expression. In order to properly satisfy these abstract and sometimes contradictory qualities it is essential that they function well. Our home enviroments are critical to our sense of wellbeing, allowing us space in which to 'reset' before re-engaging with the duties and responsibilities of our more public lives.

Furthermore, each home is inextricably linked to its unique context and location. The best homes have a close connection to their setting that enriches both: Homes that fail to respond to their context tend only to appear alienated from their setting.

Our considerable experience of designing a very broad range of homes in a very broad range of contexts (from urban conservation areas through to Green Belt and AONB rural settings) for an equally broad range of clients means that we are extremely well placed to help you with developing your ideal home.

We understand that, for the inexperienced client, the prospect of developing and realising building projects can be very stressful but we make sure to take the time to advise you on the options, risks and typical procedures and timescales you can expect to help manage the process.

Each client has unique ambitions for their project and we take time to understand your initial requirements and priorities and to offer proposals that aim to meet and exceed those ambitions. We enjoy the challenge - and the honour - of being asked to design and deliver the places that people call their home.

Please feel free to contact us and we would be very happy to discuss your project with you further.

Please see here for more information about the practice.
